ABOUT ME

Hi, I am an Executive Director in the risk division at Goldman Sachs International, as a Strat (quant). I have always been passionate about science. Physics is, for sure, my greatest passion. My love for science and progress lies behind the major choices I took in my life, and it is an essential part of it. I am also a tech geek and really passionate about AI, which in my opinion will be the fundamental tool to help society and improve human conditions (and knowledge) in the next decade…

But this is a bit reductive, please keep reading to get to know me better…

SCOUTISM

I have been a scout for 11 years, until I left my hometown to go to college.

Scoutism is a deep educational environment. So many adventures and experiences on my path…

Some of the best moments in my life have been spent with friends during scout activities.

I started when I was 8, I have been a Timberwolf, a Pathfinder and a Rover. I learnt to listen to others and I also had the opportunity to lead a patrol.

Sleeping in a tent under the starry sky, singing around the fire hugging my friends, with dozens of voices but one soul, reaching a meadow after hours of hiking with the patrol, are some of the memories I will always bring with me.

SAILING

Being born in Bari, a seaside town in the South of Italy, made a big difference to me.

Actually, I don’t like going to the beach, sunbathing or swimming.

What I like about the sea is the freedom you have once you go sailing. Feeling the wind through the hair, the sense of velocity and of break-out are unique sensations peculiar to this sport.

My favorite role on the boat is the helmsman, but I do sometimes try also to be the bowman.

I have the nautical license, so if any of you has a boat don’t hesitate to contact me.

FRIENDS

Friendship is for sure my highest ideal. I don’t know where I learnt to have such a high consideration and esteem of the concept of Friendship. Maybe while I was a Scout or probably while reading books when I was a child, such as the “The Little Prince”.

What I do know, is that I can live without everything, except my friends. In the end Friendship is just a form of love.

They are an intrinsic part of my life. When you are born, if you are lucky enough you can have a chance to have siblings, brothers and sisters. Then you grow, and in this long process you meet new people. Friends are the people you choose to be your siblings.

Friends are the brothers and sisters you choose, often better than the real ones (my sister is gonna kill me for this statement).

I have been lucky enough to have lots of friends. Sometimes, the highest regard I reserve to friendship caused some problems. I usually expect my friends to act as I do with them, and this usually does not happen. But when there is the will, it is always possible to round the edges.

I do prefer to have one more friend than to preserve my pride and hubris.

OTHER PASSIONS

There are some other aspects of my life which are not as relevant as the previous ones. Some of these are: working out, FC Inter Milan, finance, politics and geo-politics, history, sleeping, reading and a strange perversion for the Oxford comma.
